Trend in total factor productivity growth of rice in selected states in India

In this paper, we have examined changes in agricultural productivity in 12 states of India from 1997 to 2014. Data envelopment Analysis technique has been used to derive Malmquist productivity indexes. Our study examined trends in agricultural productivity and factors responsible for total factor productivity changes over the period. The paper has mainly focused on the technical change, scale efficiency change, efficiency change and total factor productivity change using Malmquist index for the period 1997–98 to 2003–04 and then from 2004–05 to 20014-15.
