The present study was undertaken to study the growth in total factor productivity of redgram in North Eastern Karnataka. The data on costs and returns pertaining to redgram in North Eastern Dry zone and North Eastern Transitional zone were considered for estimation of TFP. The analysis reveals that TFP index for North Eastern Dry Zone increased substantially over the years with a mean TFP index of 1.92 for the entire period of 23 years, and a TFP growth rate of 5.14% per annum. During this period, output index increased by 5.83% per annum and input index marginally increased by 0.65% per annum, which indicates that the change in output growth is due to the factors such as research, extension, soil types, rainfall and infrastructure facilities etc.
