Government of India had enacted National Food Security Act (NFSA) in 2013 with an intent to ensure availability of sufficient food at individual level at affordable prices. Thus, NFSA provides for subsidized food grains to approximately two thirds of India's population under Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS). In this back, this study was undertaken to evaluate the income transfer, nutrient intake and divers of uptake from PDS. The study is based on a cross-section data of 258 households, 91 households each from Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) households and 76 from APL categories. The results reveal that calorie intake AAY and BPL households was less than the recommended requirement. The family size and price ratio (market/PDS) has positive impact on uptake from PDS, whereas the household income and home production have negative effects on its uptake.
