Crop diversification is a strategy to maximize the use of land, water and other resources and for overall agricultural development of the farm households. Diversification of livestock is also an important component for achieving sustainable livelihood security. The study was conducted in Uttar Pradesh to examine the relationship of sustainable livelihood security (SLS) with crop and livestock diversification. The secondary and cross-sectional data were collected for the year 2014–15 to examine this relationship through linear regression. Result shows that seven divisions out of 18 divisions are associated or related with livestock diversification for sustainable livelihood security. At division level comparison, thirteen districts have shown that more than 50% their sustainable livelihood security depends upon crop and livestock diversification. In Jhansi division, specialization of crop should be promoted to improve the status of sustainable livelihood security. Allahabad, Azamara, Saharanpur and Devipatan divisions should be promoted for diversification of livestock rearing.
