In Punjab, the incidence of leaf folder in rice is a serious threat to realizing optimal returns. To assess the economics and efficacy of newly recommended insecticide, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Barnala conducted an on-farm trial for the management of leaf folder at 14 locations in the 2016–17 kharif season in the district. The results show that applying 50 ml of Fame 480 SC (Flubendiamide) per hectare is effective in minimizing the pest incidence and increasing the yield. This treatment resulted in the minimum percentage of leaves (3.28%) damaged by leaf folder, the highest yield (78.25 q/ha) and highest benefit-cost ratio (5.79), followed by Coragen 18.5 SC (Chlorantraniliprole) (150 ml/ha), which resulted in 5.42% damaged and a grain yield of 77.46 q/ha.
