Targeting individual and institutional stakeholders of Gujarat Agriculture for paradigm shift in structure and direction of Agri-policy in State

Changing the rural landscape, traditional tools need to be abandoned not small scale farming in toto. However in Gujarat, a clear effort needs to be done so that the farming baby is not thrown to the corporate wolves. Farming has had a spike since Narmada project but Research, Knowledge, Extension Systems, NGOs and other academics, retired Government Functionaries, researchers and scientists in agricultural universities, media stakeholders in Gujarat farming, nothing can work-unless a quickly tiring government machinery is motivated to step in to support laggards by a horizontal alignment and information sharing among agri institutions, private and public across the board. If this is done properly then the farmer of Gujarat who is looking at an uncertain gamble can be moved towards risky but valid gambles. Suggestions like token pricing of SSP water for farmers, not availing of water till now will possibly become a reality and the march towards a sustainable and efficient agriculture will carry on nevertheless.
