Abstract

In India, the agriculture and food processing infrastructure is inadequate and its supply chain inefficient. Around 30–35% of the produce is wasted, leading to food insecurity. This paper examines the critical issues at the various subsystems of the agriculture supply chain with a view to integrating them efficiently and effectively. The paper concludes that the government and corporates must address the issues of integration, infrastructure development and information management to make the agriculture supply chain efficient, which is critical for developing the agricultural sector and bringing about food security for all.
