Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Internet of Things (IoT) are the most frequently used words in recent technological innovations. All the technologies have a significant potential to contribute for agriculture, among them AI is more out spoken. Since AI is a relatively new technology, impact studies in agriculture are very scarce. The present study tries to fill this gap by analysing key areas of AI in agriculture with the help of a qualitative technique viz., thematic analysis, using research articles and google news articles related to AI and agriculture. Results suggest that potential benefits of AI are more focussed on forecasting, prediction, assisting farmers, helping governments to identify beneficiaries, and grow crops in efficient manner with minimal use of inputs.
