The paper reports about the status of beekeeping industry of Punjab. While the number of beekeepers in Punjab has increased upto 9000 in 1992 from mere 2 in 1976. the production of honey has increased from 0.7t to 1500t during this period Though the whole state is reported to be suitable for beekeeping but as of now the activity is confined mainly to Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts. The paper also suggests the various quality parameters for acceptance of honey and reports about the processing methods along with economics of production of honey.
