Abstract

The present level of mechanisation of different crop production operations in the country is low. One of the reasons for this low level is weak programme of extension and popularisation of agricultural machinery. This paper describes the present status, average annual growth rate and expected level of agricultural machanisation by the year 2000 AD. The paper also discuses fixing of clearcut goals and targets, emphasis on propers selection of agricultural machinery and suggests strategy for extension and popularisation.
