Abstract

Several investigations were carried out to find a suitable substitute material for rubber rolls used in modern rice mills, which need replacement quite often as they are subjected to frequent wear and tear. Some new type of alternative materials for making long-lasting rolls was suggested as a possible substitution for the rubber rolls. A new combinations of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (a 100.55 proportion of Polyol and Isocyanate and a curing duration of 3.0 hours at a curing temperature of 90 ± 2°C) is the latest addition to this list.
