Abstract

Research work done during the last 10 years under the ‘All India Coordinated Research project on Increased Utilisation on Animal Energy with Enhanced System Efficiency’ have shown that the efficiency, comforts and outputs of the draught animals could be increased from 30–70% or even more by adopting improved yokes and harnesses, matching implements and by following proper work rest cycles for different types of animals. When these findings would be adopted on large scale, the work output and command area from the draught animals would be substantially increased and dependence on mechanical and other sources of farm mower will be reduced.
