This Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) launched an All India Co-ordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Farm Implements and Machinery (FIM) m 1975 with six centres for development, testing and popularization of farm implements and machinery for different regions of the country At present there are 21 centres of this project working in one or more of three distinct activities under the project research & development, prototype manufacturing and prototype feasibility testing.
Under this scheme one-hundred thirty-three farm tools (manual, animal & power operated) for doing various farm operations have been developed by different centres, of which 65 implements have been commercialised A large number of prototypes of proven implements have been fabricated & supplied to the KVK's, farmers, Govt Institutions for multi-location trials and front line demonstrations.
