Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering (CIAE), Bhopal has developed a software, which provides complete information about various facilities, human resource and its activities. The information has been categorized in a way that the user can directly reach to the desired point by a single click of the mouse. Appropriate pictures and animations have been provided for easy understanding of the information. The program has been written in HTML using JavaScript, VB Script and ASP. Paint Shop Pro 5.0 was used for creation of animation and effects. This software is compatible for viewing on any browser that supports VB, JavaScript and ASP.
The software begins with a home page, which has few lines of text, animated frames and pictures and hyperlinks, directly linking the user to the requisite information. These links are available on the leftmost column and the bottom of the page, namely Introduction, Infrastructure, R&D, HRD, Technology Transfer, Consultancy and Linkages, Achievements, Publications, Ongoing Research, Personnel etc. Some of these sections have been divided into subsections with hyperlinks on their names. For example, Infrastructure page has sub-links to Agricultural Research Information System Cell, CAD Cell, CIAE Farm, Organizational, structure, Library and Laboratories. The software also incorporates R&D activities at various divisions of CIAE, AICRP schemes and Research Centers. A separate Personnel page in the program includes photographs, qualification and field of expertise of every scientist working at CIAE, which is hyper-linked to the default e-mail program.
