Abstract

Oilseed crops are being grown in India, mostly under rainfed conditions and have low productivity. Reasons for the same are poor crop stand in receding soil moisture conditions, infestation of weeds and attack of diseases and pests. Besides low productivity, the viability of seeds is adversely affected due to poor drying, storage, handling and transport. Improved agricultural machinery and post harvest technology have been developed for the farmers which can help them in timely farm operations at reduced cost and in maintaining high viability of seeds due to better post harvest technology. This need to be adopted by the farmers to get higher production and productivity of oil seeds.
