Abstract

The efficient utilization of the energy is most important. The major requirement of electricity in agriculture sector is in operating pumping system for irrigating the land. There is an ample scope to conserve energy, even to the extant of 30 to 40 percent, through comprehensive and efficient measures. A field survey was conducted to study the performance of the existing in Udaipur district agricultural pumping systems. The energy index estimated for the above pump sets was greater than 0.90 and therefore, have been recommended for rectification measures such as replacement of high friction GI pipes and fitting with low friction RPVC pipes and fittings. This partial rectification measures resulted in the reduction of the energy index by 22 percent.
