Abstract

Experimental Agromet Advisory Services started functioning at Department of Soil and Water Engineering, N. M College of Agriculture University, Navsari since August 2001. On every Tuesday and Frzuay weather forecast is received from National Committee on Medium Range Weather Forecast (NCMRWF), Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi at around 11 AM on the basis of the data collected at 8 AM from the Meteorological Observatory at the Gujarat Agricultural University. From the forecasted weather conditions and consultations made with the advisory committee to plan about the specialized fields activities to be performed in next four days. Agro advisories are prepared in summarized form and handed over to the press for publication. The agro advisory bulletins are published regularly in local newspapers namely Lok Prahari, Sandesh and Gujarat Samachar. The area of influence of agro-met prediction extends within 50 Km diameter with Navsari as center.
