Abstract

Effect of harvesting method on aerobic mesophilic surface microflora of mango fruits was studied. Mango fruits harvested with secateur had lesser surface microbial load compared to hand picked or dropped fruits. The total microbial count increased marginally during ripening in secateurs and harvester harvested fruits, while it increased significantly in dropped or hand picked fruits.
