Abstract

The grain yield was observed almost equal under both the systems in clay loam and silty clay soil but 77.57% saving in energy and 72.58% saving in cost of operation were observed under zero–tillage method over conventional method. There was also no appreciable effect oj zero-tillage method on bulk density of soil below ploughing depth (below 24 cm.). Moreover the advantage of early sowing is distinctly available under zero–tillage system.
