An investigation was carried out in the Tejpura and Lakara karai watersheds in central India to identify the constraints in enhanced agricultural production. There were 150 respondents, 50 each from the small medium and large landholders. Impact of various extension media vis-a-vis, certain features of the farming community on the level of adoption of farm machinery, processing practices and soil and water conservation measures was determined by analysing the production system of the respondent farmers. It was revealed that poor financial condition (92%), inadequate repair and maintenance facility (90%), lack of risk bearing attitude (85%), unavailable information on improved implements, lack of motivation and cooperation (60%) and a non-enthusiastic attitude (60%) are some of the major constraints in adoption of improved production and processing practices.
