Abstract

The abundance of fodder crops during the peak periods of growth and scarcity during other periods makes it mandatory to device suitable ways of fodder management. The best way to regulate the supply of palatable and nutritive fodder during the lean periods is to conserve the surplus fodder in the form of hay and silage. This paper reviews the research done on haymaking in India and abroad and various methods of drying - mechanical drying, sun drying and microwave drying.
