Abstract

A study was carried out during 1999–2000 in North Lakhimpur district of Assam with an objective to determine utilization pattern of tractors on a flood-affected tea garden. The study revealed that six tractors were capable of commanding all field operations and haulage work needed for replanting of 11 ha are aaffected by flood. The expenditure for performing haulage work by tractors for replanting the flood affected area was Rs.13,403/-per hectare. Whereas, the expenditure for carrying field operations was Rs.16,177/-per hectare.
