A sweep type groundnut digger was developed and tested in the experimental plot for finding its suitability. The machine was tested for digging of bunch variety AK-1224 of groundnut. The field performance was compared with CIAE Bhopal model of groundnut digger. The performance results of the developed sweep type groundnut digger were found better in all respects. Its field capacity was 0.132 ha/h with a field efficiency of 70% at an operating speed of 1.59 km/h. It performed the harvesting operation with a total pods loss of 13.27% and a digging efficiency 86.73%. With this digger, the cost of operation was Rs 203.80/ha for groundnut harvesting.
