A Solar Dryer cum Cooker (SDC) was developed for drying and cooking food materials at the domestic level. The device was tested under stagnation condition and heat up condition. The two figures of merits (F1 and F2) values were found as 0.12, 0.32 and 0.12, 0.30 for winter and summer, respectively, under the two test conditions. The efficiency for drying maize in solar dryer was 15.55%, in winter and 12.97%, in summer. The total cost of SDC was worked out to be Rs 2715/.
