A study was conducted to enhance the daily discharge of a solar photovoltaic pumping system in cloudy as well as in clear weather. A device was developed to automatically charge the back up battery and utilize the battery power to boost discharge when it reduced due to lower solar insolation. The performance of the device was evaluated and compared with the earlier observations. The results revealed that after attachment of device in the system the volume of water delivered through the pump was significantly higher under cloudy weather (58.72 m3) as compared to without device (46.14 m3). Similarly in partially cloudy and clear weather also the volume of water delivered was higher with the device. Conversion efficiency was highest in all weather condition under cut-off cum relay device.as compared to without device.
