The popular fixed dome type biogas plants have been successfully modified to allow use of fresh undiluted cattle as feed. The design is easy to build and operate, produces up to 25% more biogas, costs less and the space required for slurry drying is cut by 50% compared to the plants of common design. The solid-state plants are working satisfactorily at more than 150 farmers’ sites. The design has been passed on to MNRE, GOI for promotion throughout the country.
