Agricultural mechanization has experienced a tremendous growth over the last few years. Widespread modernization through research and development with front line demonstration of improved farm implements and machineries on farmers fields are achieved through All India Coordinated Research Project on Farm Implements and Machinery with 24 centers located all over country. Farming communities have started employing agro-equipment extensively in various domains of cultivation like tillage, sowing, planting, interculture, plant protection, harvesting & threshing and for hill and horticultural crops. The awareness through FLD among farming communities to implement the latest available technologies has resulted in a shift towards mechanization, extending the scope of Agril -machinery in the country. Total 71 number of selected farm equipment and machinery covered 42380 ha area, 17825 h of threshing operation, dug 38754 pits with post hole digger for plantation, made 1390 demonstrations with horticultural tools and 352 h with machines other than threshers i.e. bush cutter, mini combine harvester since 2000 to 2008.
