Tractor Industry in India - Market Share Analysis of Various Brands of Tractors

Abstract

The all India as well as state & region wise market share analysis of various brands of tractors has been carried out. This will specially be useful to the tractor manufacturers to know the states/regions where they have good market share & the states/regions where they need to know the reasons of low market share so that they can plan future marketing strategies accordingly to increase their market share. M/s Mahindra & Mahindra has the highest share of sale of tractors of all hp ranges of tractors taken together numbering 88021 out of 298561 sold during 2007–08 amounting to 29.48% of market share followed by M/s TAFE Group which sold 70587 tractors amounting to 23.64% of market share. M/s Escorts Ltd market share has been 14.81% which sold 44212 tractors. In the 21–30HP Range of tractors, M/s Mahindra & Mahindra has the highest all India share of sale of tractors numbering 17947 out of 51259 amounting to 35.01% of market share followed by M/s TAFE group which sold 16679 tractors amounting to 32.54% of market share. In the 31–40HP Range of tractors M/s TAFE group has the highest share of sale of tractors numbering 49179 out of 152005 amounting to 32.35% of market share followed by M/s Mahindra & Mahindra which sold 45308 tractors amounting to 29.81% of market share. In the 41–50HP Range of tractors, M/s Escorts Ltd has the highest share of sale of tractors numbering 21320 out of 71776 amounting to 29.70% of market share followed by M/s Mahindra & Mahindra which sold 20105 tractors amounting to 28.01% of market share. In the 51+HP Range of tractors, M/s PTL has the highest share of sale of tractors numbering 9211 out of 23521 amounting to 39.16% of market share followed by M/s John Deere Ltd which sold 6184 tractors amounting to 26.29% of market share.
