Abstract

It is observed that Simarouba glauca provides a positive energy return. In this paper, energy inputs and outputs per one tonne of kernel from Simarouba glauca in India were studied. Appropriate energy equivalents of different items from the literature were taken into account for estimation of energy input and output. The energy input and output were estimated to be 14.6 GJ and 81.5 GJ per tonne of kernel respectively. Energy output to input ratio was found to be 5.8: 1.
