Abstract

In tillage, active and passive tillage tools used in India faces problem like, poor soil-tire interface, clod formation, compaction due to heavy traffic and timeliness in operation. Hence, it was planned to fabricate a pulverizing attachment to cultivator and to study its performance with existing implements. Cultivator + planker (T1), rotavator (T2), rotavator with tine (T3) and pulverizing attachment to cultivator (T4) were tested in the field having 12.57% moisture content and 1.6 g/cc bulk density. Their performance results were analyzed in terms of machine performance parameters. The effect of treatments on machine parameters like fuel consumption and field efficiency were evaluated. Also the cost of operation was worked out. The average values of field efficiency and fuel consumption were found 78.89%, 12.94 l/ha respectively. The pulverizing attachment to cultivator saves 45.8%, 5.54% and 11% fuel and 49%, 11% and 16% cost of cultivation over cultivator + planker (T1) and rotavator (T2) and rotavator with tine (T3) respectively. Using pulverizing attachment to cultivator a farmer could save rupees fifty thousand against rupees one lakhs on rotavator.
