Production Refinement of Potato Peeler and Slicer for Ease of Manufacturing

Potato processing is an important village level activity to increase consumption of the commodity at the production catchment, add value and provide employment to rural youth and women. Pedal operated potato peeler and slicers are in great demand in rural enterprises. The peeler and slicer developed at CIAE, Bhopal was taken up for production improvement, cost reduction, ease of maintenance and user-friendliness. This paper discusses various procedures adopted and modification carried out on these machines. The cost of production and time taken to fabricate was brought down considerably by these engineering interventions. The finished product is uniform in appearance, reliable in functionality and of consistent quality.
