Abstract

Study was undertaken to utilize abundantly available pine needles in hilly region of Uttarakhand state to mitigate the drudgery involved in collection of fuel wood from nearby agent in a proportion of 60: 40 by weight with the help of a hydraulic press. Three levels of effect of these were observed on heating value, ash content, moisture content, bulk density, crushing strength and water resistance capacity. The experiment was designed using RSM kg with ash content between 5.25 and 8.6 percent. The crushing strength was observed to be lower (38.34 kg) for higher die pressure values compared to the same (91.14 kg) for and was observed to be higher for lower values of particle size at increased die pressure. The water resistance capacity ranged between 96.82–98.14 percent. The experimental
