The purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of fuzzy b-compactness by using r-fuzzy b-open sets and study some of their fundamental properties. By using the notions of quasi smooth structure and weak smooth structure of smooth fuzzy topological spaces, fuzzy b-compact spaces are investigated.
