Abstract

Plant growth regulators have been reported to play important roles in stress responses and adaptation. An experiment was conducted during 2016-18 to 201820 in autumn season of planting to study the effect of kinetin and gibberlic acid on germination and growth attributes of sugarcane. Two budded setts were planted in split plot design with variety CoS 08272, replicated thrice in rows 90 cm apart. Planting of experiment was done in the month of October and recommended package of practices was followed. Germination was counted at 15, 30, 45 and 60 DAP. The results indicated that soaking of setts in gibberlic acid @ 35 ppm gave higher and early germination than other treatments. The tillers and millable canes were also showed similar trend however quality attributes were not affected which concluded that GA3 is more effective than kinetin and other treatments for better germination and cane yield.
