At the farm of U.P. Council of Sugarcane Research, Shahjahanpur, a pot experiment was conducted using varieties viz., CoS 12232, CoS 14232, CoS 10231, CoS 13231, CoS 06279, CoS 08276, CoS 11453, Co 0238, CoSe 01434 and CoS 08279 which was evaluating for salt effected soil. 8.0 E.C. (salinity label) maintained artificially by mixing sodium chloride, calcium chloride and sodium sulphate in required amount against normal soil (1.4 E.C.) in pots. In each pots five canes setts were planted. The performance of varieties growing is normal and in saline soil has been compared. Results indicated that growth and yield components were reduced under saline soil condition than the respective normal soil grown plants. Varieties CoS 12232, CoS 14232 and CoS 06279 performed better germination, tillers, millable cane, shoot height, leaf area, and yield under saline soil condition. Sucrose % in juice was also affected due to salinity. Sucrose was higher in the verities Co 0238 and Co 06279 than other due to earliness of their nature.
