Agricultural waste in India totals around 600 million tonnes per year. India will experience a significant transformation between 2025 and 2030, with a two-fold increase in the use of plastics, metals, bioplastic and other non-biodegradable materials. We need to figure out how to use agricultural trash such that it doesn’t harm the environment and yet serves as a source of money because over 50% of Indian population depend on agriculture. Agricultural goods, agroindustries, animal feed, horticulture, aquaculture, etc. all create agricultural waste. India still employs the same antiquated waste treatment techniques, such as burning and draining the trash, despite the enormous amount of waste that is produced there. With the advent of new technology, we must usher in a more valuable and environmentally sustainable era of agricultural waste management. Under Swachh Bharat Unnat Bharat, we must discover strategies to carry out the aim of turning waste into riches. For India to become a zero-waste country, a new institutional structure is required to handle the problem of agricultural waste.
