Seasonal incidence of scale insect Melanaspis glomerata (Green) in sugarcane

The incidence of scale insect was noticed in the field during the 1st fortnight of August, 2019. When the crop was attained at 6 to 7 month age. The insect population was reached a peak in the month of November and from December to January to the crop. The relationship between population of insect and weather parameters showed significant correlation with high maximum and minimum temperature and rainfall but showed statistically negative relation with the weather parameters. Per cent infestation, intensity and infestation index were gradually increased reaching a peak in the month of November which was highly significant than that of other months of the study.
