Abstract

The investigation on “Seasonal incidence on insect pests of soybean (Glycine max L.)” was carried out with KDS-726 (Phule Sangam) soybean variety during kharif season of 2023–24 under field condition at Agronomy Farm, College of Agriculture, Pune, Maharashtra. Aphid peak population was found in 36th SMW (4.19 aphids/3 leaves/plant), jassids in 39th SMW (3.89 jassids/3 leaves/plant), thrips in 37th SMW (6.18 thrips/3 leaves/plant) and whiteflies in 39th SMW (7.87 whiteflies/3 leaves/plant). Leaf eating caterpillar population was observed from 36th SMW to 42nd SMW and it was peaked during 37th SMW with 4.34 larvae/mrl. According to the correlation studies between weather parameters and the insect pests of soybean, only morning relative humidity (r=-0.577*) was negatively significant with the aphid population, jassids had a significantly negative correlation with wind speed (r=-0.567*), whiteflies showed negative and highly significant correlation with wind speed (r=-0.752**). The thrips and leaf eating caterpillar had nonsignificant correlation with all the weather parameters.
