Pineapple and fusarium sett rot, both are soil- borne diseases that affect the germination of the cane buds in sugarcane. In Fiji, a field trial was conducted to assess the issue of pineapple and fusarium sett rot in the cane belt region. Four different fungicides were used to trial its efficacy on sugarcane setts. The variety Naidiri, was planted and the percent germination was calculated at 4 weeks after planting. Moreover, in this study, the growth measurement was also considered at 3, 5, 7, and 9 months after planting. The results of these studies have indicated that there is no significant impact of fungicides on the percent germination and growth measurement of sugarcane, indicating that there is minimum to no sett rot problem in the studied field. However, more research is required in the commercial fields with this fungal issue to further evaluate the impact of these fungicides on the disease.
