Abstract

Normally the flowers of canna (Canna indica L.) are either red or yellow, sometimes even variegated colours are also found. But a natural mutant was spotted by us, in 2022 during rainy season in our nursery that produced very brightly coloured red and yellow flowers in the same stalk. The mutant has been maintained in our nursery since then, and the same pattern of the flower has been found over the years. This mutant is a new type and since, it is a long lived herbaceous perennial plant, the new mutant can be used as new ornamental type over locations.
