Abstract

Field experiments were carried out for three consecutive years (2011–2014) at U.P. Council of Sugarcane Research to assess the response of sugarcane crop to different nutrients. Application of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium along with sulphur, zinc, iron and manganese being at par with applications of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium along with sulphur, zinc and iron; and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium along with sulphur and zinc, recorded significantly higher cane yield (90.16 t/ha) compared to nutrient applied in different other combinations. Quality of cane was found similar under different nutrient combinations. It revealed that sulphur and zinc are the deficient nutrients in the soils of U.P. and hence may be supplemented to get the higher cane yields.
