Abstract

All the intercrops showed significantly lower incidence of top borer, (Scirpophaga excerptalis) and smut (Ustilago scitaminea) than sole crop of sugarcane. Among intercrops, sugarcane intercropped with coriander registered lower (10.56%) incidence of top borer and Smut (4.69%) followed by sugarcane with garlic 10.76% and 5.33% respectively. In case of per cent reduction in incidence of top borer and smut being 34.22% and 44.24% respectively. Whereas, in sole crop showed highest incidence being 16.36% and 9.56% of top borer and smut, respectively. Similarly, sugarcane intercropped with coriander was recorded highest (83.03 t/ha) yield followed by Sugarcane + Garlic (81.29 t/ha), when it was compared to sole crop the per cent increased yield (10.22%) with Sugarcane + Coriander followed by Sugarcane + Garlic (8.30%).
