Abstract

The effects of fungicide Zinthane on meristematic cells of Vicia faba L. roots were investigated. Actively growing root tips of Vicia faba L. were treated with 100 ppm, 250 ppm, 500 ppm, 750 ppm and 1000 ppm concentrations of fungicide for 2, 4 and 6 hours. The results obtained showed that the fungicide is mitodepressive in nature. It also induces various types of chromosomal and nuclear aberrations such as binucleate cells, multinucleate cells, disturbed metaphases, scattered metaphases, chromatid separation, bridge at anaphases, disturbed polarity, multipolar anaphases and telophases. It is concluded that Zinthane inhibits mitotic activity as well as also shows hard impact on chromosomal structure and behaviour of cells.
