Field experiments were conducted during 2015–16 and 2016–17 at research farm of Genda Singh Sugarcane Breeding and Research Institute, Seorahi, Uttar pradesh. The experiment consisted of nine treatment combinations. Two budded sugarcane setts were planted in furrows at 90 cm row to row distance. Three genotypes i.e. V1-CoSe 11453, V2-CoS 09232, V3-CoSe 08452 and three fertility levels i.e. F1-75% Recommended dose of NPK, F1-100% Recommended dose of NPK, F3-125% Recommended dose of NPK were tested in factorial randomized block design. Recommended dose of fertilizers (NPK) was 180, 80, 60 kg per ha and applied as per treatments. All treatments were replicated three times. The experimental field soil was medium in organic carbon (0.50%), medium in available phosphorus (17.73 kg/ha) and low in potash (99.65 kg/ha) with pH 8.02. Effect of genotype/varieties on shoot population, NMC and cane yield was non significant. Germination per cent was observed significantly higher in genotype CoS 09232 as compared to other genotypes/varieties. At 125 per cent recommend dose of fertilizer, germination, shoot population, NMC and cane yield were significantly higher as compared to 75 and 100 per cent RDF, however, the shoot population was statistically at par with 100 per cent RDF treatment. During 2016–17, the experimental field was medium in organic carbon (0.65%), medium in available phosphorus (17.65 kg/ha) and low in potash (109.70 kg/ha) with pH 8.01. Effect of varieties on germination was noted non significant. Variety CoSe 11453 recorded significantly higher shoot population (167.51 thousand per ha) and Cane yield (107.19 t/ha) as compared to CoSe 08452 and at par with CoS 9232 but effect on NMC was recorded significantly higher in variety CoSe 11453 (144.93 thousand per ha) than other varieties. 125 per cent RDF treatment resulted in significantly higher germination as compared with 75 per cent RDF and at par with 100 per cent RDF. Different fertilizer doses has significantly on shoot population which was significantly higher in 125 per cent RDF as compared to 75 per cent RDF but at par with 100 per cent RDF. NMC (145.02 thousand per ha) and Cane yield (119.18 t/ha) were noted significantly higher in 125 per cent RDF treatment over other fertility doses.
