UP Council of Sugarcane Research, Shahjahanpur-242001, Uttar Pradesh, India

Abstract

Soil sodicity, which is a major concerned in India, has been evaluated at Gazipur district (eastern UP) to confirm the nutrient status. Micronutrients like Zn, Fe, Cu and Mn status were found below the critical limits in all the collected samples. Organic carbon, phosphorus were also poor in theses soils where as potash is at sufficient level. It was suggested that these soil may be required 230 kg N/ha + 80 kg P through Single Supar Phosphate alongwith suitable soil conditionar under sugarcane, wheat cultivation. Maximum sodicity were observed at depth of 90cm.
