Abstract

Sugarcane whiteflies are one of the most important pests of sugarcane in South Asian countries. Infestations cause direct and indirect damage, and early maturing varieties are more susceptible. Infestations can cause yield loss as well as reduced sucrose content. A combination of cultural, mechanical, chemical, biological control and varietal resistance methods are being used to control of whitefly infestations and increase the yield and efficiency of sugarcane.
