Abstract

Simple and rapid multiplication protocol for the newly released varieties of sugarcane was standardized. More than 32,000 plantlets were transferred in the field within 4 months and later their field performance was evaluated. Variety CoS 08272 and Co 0118 has highest survival rate in green house followed by CoSe 11453 and CoS 12232. Overall 95% plants were survived in field. Phenotypically the mocropropogated plants were similar to their donar plants and it was further confirmed by the analysis of genetic purity by DAMD markers. The protocol developed in this study may be utilize for micropropogation at larger scale of aforesaid varieties.
