Abstract

Combining ability estimates for fruit yield and its components were studied following line × tester analysis in brinjal. Thirty three F1s and 14 parents were evaluated in RBD for thirteen quantitative characters. On the basis of findings of present investigation, it can be concluded that lines NDB 21, PB 66, PB 67 and PB 64 can be used as parents in the hybridization programme to get desirable recombinants in segregating generations. The cross KS 356 × PU could be exploited for early maturity. The cross NDB 21 × PB 67 showed maximum sca effects hence, this cross could be advanced to recover desirable segregants for the improvements of yield and yield contributing characters.
