Screening of soybean germplasm standard germination and seed vigour test

The present investigation was conducted on Seed Testing Laboratory at Department of Seed Science and Technology, V.C.S.G. Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, College of Forestry, Ranichauri Campus with twenty diverse genotypes of soybean including two checks viz., PS-1347 and PS-1092. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences for all seed quality parameters among all soybean genotypes. The genotype PS-1347 had high speed of germination and cold test. The genotype PS-1589 showed high standard germination. The maximum root and shoot length were recorded in PS-1586 and PS-1596. The highest seedling fresh and dry weight were observed in PS-1588 and PS-1602. The minimum moisture content was recorded in PS-1588 and maximum germination per cent through accelerated ageing test was recorded in PS-1092. Hence, these genotypes can be used in breeding programme for development of high yielding variety.
