Abstract

The present investigation was carried out with 20 genotypes of Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) atthe Vegetable Research and Demonstration Block, College of Horticulture, Veer Chandra SinghGarhwali, Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, Bharsar during rabi season ofSeptember 2019 to obtain the knowledge of genetic divergence. The experiment was laid out inRCBD with three replications. In this study, twenty genotypes including one check cultivarJapanese White were evaluated for different horticultural traits. The analysis of varianceshowed significant variation among different genotypes for all the traits under study.Geneticanalysis indicated that phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) was higher than genotypiccoefficient of variation (GCV) in all the attributes studied. On the basis of D2 statistic, the twentygenotypes were grouped into five divergent.Among the five clusters studied, cluster V was thelargest cluster consisting of nine genotypes followed by cluster III with 4 genotypes, cluster Iand II with 3 genotypes and Cluster IV with 1 genotype. The highest inter- cluster distance were observed between cluster I and cluster IV (D2= 8.606) and lowest for cluster II and cluster III (D2= 2.909). Maximum inter cluster D2 values were between the clusters I and IV indicated that the genotypes included in these clusters can be used as a parent in hybridization programme to gethigher heterotic hybrids from the segregating population.
